AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

The Cognitive Neuroimaging Lab (or CNL) is located at the Beckman Institute (405 N. Mathews Ave., Urbana, IL 61801). The lab includes five rooms on the second floor (2410, 2420, 2420A, 2434 and 2436).

Room 2410 actually comprises 3 separate rooms:, one with two ISS Inc. 8 detector, 64-source dual-wavelength "Imagent" oxymeters, a 64 channel "James Long" EEG system and associated stimulation equipment; one which is used for neuropsychological examinations; and one which is used as the control room and fMRI analysis area.

Room 2434 contains a soundproof recording chamber and 2 sound-attenuated recording rooms. The recording chamber is equipped with a 64-channel Grass EEG amplifier. One of the sound attenuated rooms is equipped with a 32-channel EEG amplifier and an ISS Inc Oximeter for recording EROS and NIRS data.

Room 2420A contains a sink, a subject prepping area and a separate interview area. A Polhemus 3-D digitizer system is also located in this room. Rooms 2420 and 2436 include office space for graduate students and other support personnel.

Functional MRI data are acquired using a research-dedicated 3T Siemens Magnetom Allegra MR Headscanner at the Biomedical Imaging Center (BIC) in the south campus.

A 1.5 Tesla GE magnet located at the Magnetic Resonance Imaging facility of Carle Hospital is also available to the lab.

All recording and data analysis computers in the lab and offices are networked . Most important, a regular and an espresso coffee machine are also available in the Lab.
